Question Bout my D15B2

I bought a 88 crx si that had the engine blown so it has a d15b2, my question is why is it that all the d15b2's i see on line

second thing any one ever had to change there valve seals? if so how much or how hard is it to do cause mine need to be changed cause its starting to smoke some.wanted to show a picture of what i mean but cant figure out how sorry

Re: Question Bout my D15B2

The engine that was in the thing was a d1616, the best of our generations motors. It had mutli-port fuel injection and was a 1.6L. But the d15b2 was the common motor and had Dual-point fuel injection (meaning two injectors instead of four). Seems to me that when the engine was replaced, someone kept the multi-port and swaped it with the dual-point. Looks like you got you work cut out for you!

Re: Question Bout my D15B2

its better the way you have it. both manifolds are bolt on for any d-series engine. since your car was wired for the d16a6, all the did was put in a new block and head, basiclly just treat it as a d16a6 if you need to buy parts.

Re: Question Bout my D15B2

having the head rebuilt is also a good option. IMO, put in a d16a6.

Re: Question Bout my D15B2

Well i wouldn't buy a used head if you can get your original one machined out. unless the heads cracked or something. I have a d15 and i burnt a valve. took the head off and all the valves were sunk in the seats. bought a used head off ebay and put new valves seals on it reused old valves and boy you wanna talk about smoking. the used head apeared to be in better shape but wasnt. i ended up burning another valve. so i took it apart agian. now i have the original head at the machine shop and i bought all new valves and seals and gaskets. it shouldnt smoke at all when im done and i bet my gas mileage goes way up.
cost: $310 for 16 valves
$120 for all new gaskets
$120 for machine work on head
no more smoke out the tail pipe: Priceless
