Bike wont start.

Hello all I need some help. My bike just wont start. When I go to start it instead of a fast turn over it slowly whines. I have gotten it to start by popping the clutch. I thought the battery was dead so I tried to jump it but that did not work. My freind said to clean the terminals on the battery I did and no go. My bro usually checks/fixes my bike but he is out of country for four months. BTW I have a '91 cbr1000f. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

JEI: I know I shouldn't do this... but I have a friend with that same exact bike. The guy is practically a genius. Go over to http://www.goldentriangleriders.org and post up this problem over there. If he isn't out riding, he will probably help you if he has any ideas.
