is this a good price and need some 6.0 mod ideas

im about to buy a 2001 chevy silverado 1500hd, LS, 4x4, crew cab, and 6.0 , its got 76k miles....car fax came back clean, the body is in perfect cond., it rides really nice, and very tight cab and etc (meanin no sqweaks or rattles) total price with tt and L etc is around 19kish

is this a decent price?

and i noticed that it has a dual in and single out stock muffler......

would it be better to run dual flow masters? if so which ones? im wantin the most power possable

would it be better to y pipe it to a single in and a dual out?
if so would the super 40 be good or?????

exhuast is the first mod i plan todo any feed back will do thanks guys

i want it to be deep and powerful sounding while at the same time i want the power also anyone have the super 40's? i need some feed back on those puppys

Nice truck man, and I'm pretty sure it's a good deal. My dad bought a 99' 2500 LS i think for around 18. It's got a long list of accesorries, it's a long bed extended cab, only the 3 door though. they are really great trucks i think. That truck has 3.73 gears, locker and 265/75's on it, shitty goodyears but they look meaty on it. I know in the manual it says max pull is only 8000 lbs, but we're pullin close to 11,500 with our camper, full water tank which is 100 gal, two harley's in back, some stuff in the bed and four people in it. only averaged 8 miles but he gets 10 miles city, prob 12-13 highway.

But back to your post, I guess i didnt think they were dual in's, but i'd y it there, then go with just maybe one 40 then y it again and go with duals out the back. I know a lot of people, especialy around here alwyas resort to glaspacks, which do make it sound nice, but not as nice as my straight pipes. haha. But if your looking into adding a lot into it, I'd get some headers for it for sure. there is a hell of an aftermarket for that style of truck so it'd be smart to get it. I've never ridden in a 1500 but i know how our 2500 is and it's probably close to the same, they are pretty comfortable, they're the way a truck should feel.

Try and get some pics soon man, sounds like a helluva truck!

Well i was going to say if you just prefer normal oil, but since you mention Royal Purple, DO IT. I've heard that stuff is great and i'm looking into it myself. Another choice is Amsoil but i think Royal Purple takes the trophy for oil. Also why dont ya just put some Royal Purple in your diff's too. If i do go to it i think i'll run all their fluids throughout my truck.

Oh, and if ya change your oil yourself, becareful that first time, they put the plug on the side kind of so when you take it out it shoots out, doesn't come down, so be aware of that, then move it back once most of it has drained out and it starts to come to a stream/drip. and i could never get my fingers around the filter cuz they're isn't much room between the filter and pan. So one of those handy dandy tools that fits on the end of a socket works great. although a screwdriver pounded into the side to twist it works too.

Check the codes on the sticker inside your glove box. Then match them up with the info below from SSHotRods.com.

Chevy Gear Codes
These codes are on the sticker in your glove box
G80 = Locking rear differential
2.73 = GU2
3.08 = GU4
3.42 = GU6
3.73 = GT4, GQ1
4.10 = GT5

No they won't be in the vin number. Inside the glove box there should be a sticker with many 3 character codes made up of letters and numbers. On my truck there are eleven columns of codes and the gear ratio code is in the ninth row second code from the top. I have GU6 or per the gear codes previously posted 3.42.
I do not know of anywhere else these codes are located except for in the glove box.

76,000 miles is not alot of miles, but its not low mileage either. So if you do go with synthetic oil, you better check for leaks often. So unless you are just dead set on synthetic oil, I would suggest a high mileage oil (and if I were you, I'd check with the previous owner and find out what brand and weight oil he/she used).

As for your gear, you probably atleast have a 3.73, but being that you have an 1500 HD, you may have a 4.10 (all 2500HD trucks with the 6.0 come standard with 4.10)

Re: is this a good price and need some 6.0 mod ideas

I got my 02 1500HD Crew LS with 15k on the clock for 20g's out the door. Price sounds a bit high to me . The 1500HD's came standard with the 3:73 rear and 245/75-16's. Mine gets 15mpg city and 17mpg on the highway. A buddy of mine said that the program the truck was runningwas not stock. Truck has plenty of balls to tow. Exhaust is 2 in and one out..
