I've got a '93 Prelude Si & the techometer registers correctly for the first 5 mins of driving time; then it bounces 'til I stop. What's up with this?

Re: Bouncing Techometer
hmmm... that's sounds like some form of ecu isn't working correctly. i'd see if it's throwing a code. or take it to someone who could check that for you. maybe try resetting your ecu (unplug it for a few minutes).

Re: Bouncing Techometer
if there's a code that's been thrown, there should be a check engine light. you know what though? check your coolant level. is your car running unusually hot or cold?

Re: Bouncing Techometer
I had that problem for a few weeks and then my battery would lose charge real quickly. After trying a new battery and nothing changed, I purchased an high output alternator and haven't had the problem since.....may be something other than that but that was the solution when i was having that problem....

Re: Bouncing Techometer
it could be the distributor too... my car does it - i got a 98 SH with a jdm motor from a 94 - so the distributor has the CKP, TDC sensors in it. i think thats why mine bounces - only does it about half the time. i was thinking of replacing my distributor to fix it but my car is 1200 miles away from me until mid october
I'm in the Military going to school in chcago right now.
