Misfire

I have a 97 altima 5 speed. The engine misfires and causes a slight jerking feeling. This only happens around 2.5 k rpm during steady driving. This does not occur during excelleration. When driving if I put it in nuetral sometimes it dies. It has an eratic idle. I have replaces, plug, wires, rotor, fuel filter, and dist cap.

help!

Re: Misfire

You may have a blown intake gasket . Usually blows around #4 cylinder . Spray some carb cleaner arond the intake around #4 sand see if it changes the idle . If so the gasket is blown . Very common .

Re: Misfire

Vacuum leak, listen for hissing sound, air leaking under the hood while in idle. Intake Manifold gasket is a common leak area.

Re: Misfire

If you do alot of accelerating/high speed driving, check your timing. My truck just started doing the same thing and it was caused by a jumped timing chain.
