Dash Warping

I have an '01 LS with the wood trim. I noticed that the front of the dash is seperating from the wood trim on both sides above and below the a/c vents. I always use a sunshade in the windshield and use Armora all or something to keep the dash from drying out. Anyone else having this prob?

Re: Dash Warping

Where do you live? I used to live in FL and TX and the heat there is brutal on the car. I used a sunshade and took care of the dash on my last car (Cavalier) and it still was in pretty bad shape. I live in IA now and I have seen many Cavaliers in the scrap yard that have perfect dashboards. I also had a gear shift boot, winshield wipers, and the visors replaced under warrenty (the car was only 2 years old at the time). The replacement parts suffered the same problem as the original, which was why I was looking in the scrap yard. I never really figured out a good system of keeping the heat down. Cracking the windows might help, but then you have to go close them if it starts to rain or something.

I too live in TX. I have my windows tinted, use the shade in the windshield, I live my sunroof tilted up. The car stays decently cool inside. I was wondering if maybe the dash screws inside there by the vents, and mybe it is just loose. I havent taken off the trim to look yet.

I have actually found a bulletin for this. It is TSB 01-08-49-002. So apparently it has been a problem. Even though I have an extended warranty Chevy says it is going to cost me hundreds of dollars to fix out of my own pocket. I love the way Chevy stands by their product. It is basically "yeah we make pieces of crap, so what?"
