Hello,
I have a 99 2.7 liter I have had nothing but trouble with it. Rack and Pinion, engine blowed, alt shot, starter gone bad And I run through brakes like Im on a 1st name basis at AUTO ZONE.Oh and did I mention that this is the 3rd time that I have replaced the regulator in the drivers window, and the passenger one also needs replaced as we speak . So what have you had go wrong with your intrepid, anyone next for your grooling pain and war stories! Doesnt it seem as if there would be something done by now on all the crap that has went wrong with these cars! If I would be able to scan and post the 20 pages of stuff that techs have done yall would flip. I feel like a total going against dodgeWhen I called and faxed them the paper s I just mentioned they said"we take these complaints into consideration and tell our design team and they make adjustments in the newer models" I'm thinking what the heck I wouldnt buy another intrepid unless it had the hemi in it and had a "HYUNDAI WARRANTY 10YR 100,000 MILES I am sad to say It seems as if those foreign companies is beatin the tar outa our standards....... Its a shame,no wonder I lost my job to mexico!!! |

I feel your pain. I have the same vehicle, (same year and engine). I sense its in its final death throes. Blue smoke out the tailpipe that no one seems to be able to or want to deal with. Goes through oil like you wouldn't believe. Somebody help!

Re: 2.7 1999 intrepid "BLOWED ENGINE AND ANYTHING MESSED UP THREAD"
I have a 2001 Intrepid that has 62,000 miles on it and the engine went. I have called the ohio board of transportation and they said they have had over 600 complaints about this car. I am very upset as I sitll owe 3 more years on this car. I am collecting information about this car and problems people are having with the engine. I want to start a petition and brimnng this to Dodges attention. This is not right nor fait to the consumer. I now know 3 people one who had 26,000 miles and another at 41,000 miles and the engine went. That is not right. I am trying to prove that it is a defect on the manufacture. So if you want to voice your opinion I am collecting letters to take straight to Dodge and if I don't get an answer that way then I am going to inform the media. Something needs to be done. Feel free to write me a letter my address is [email protected] just address it Dear Dodge. I figure if I can get 600 or more people then they have to do something or the'll have some really bad press. Thank you all and I'm sorry you ever got stuck with this lemon of a product.

Put a 3.2 in it's place. You need the a/c lines, raditior and a/c condensor intact, throttle cable, computor and heater hoses.Make sure the engine and transmission bolted together. The gear ratio is differant in the trans mission. You also need the front exhaust.I have read there is a Lawyer that is looking for clients. He is going to plan a lawsuit against chrysler because of the 2.7 engine.
