supercharged crx upgrade help

Looking to add an intake, exhaust and possibly a cam gear to my JRSC'd '89 CRX. Its running the upgraded 8-10 psi of boost on a constant octane level of about 93-97 (race gas being mixed with crap 91 california stuff). D16A6 "si" motor.

-Ive read up a lot and have found that apparently a SRI would be the best choice for air coming in. Is this because the SC heats the hell outta the air whether its cold or warm anyway? Are there any suggestions on brands that are the most efficient?

-For the exhaust, will i need the piping diameter to be greater than 2.5? or is that sufficient for boost levels of 8-10 psi?

-is the cam gear worth putting in?

Also, would water cooling be a good idea? I have no problem with detonation because of the octane level, but I dont really know much about the water cooling process.

Last of all, I have the MSD boost timing master with the dial to retard/advance the timing. Is this the same thing as the Apexi S-AFC? or is the apexi air/fuel unit a totally different mod?

sorry for the length but my crx is starting to get boring and i need to make it faster...... even if it means my family and I dont eat well for the next few months.

A 2.5" exhaust should be fine for your HP level. Intake, Header and Exhaust is a good upgrade for that car. However it is going to be alot louder then it was. Superchargers sound wicked with a intake.

You may look into converting your car to OBD1 and Running a Hondata or Uberdata for fuel management. It will give you alot more tuneability and you might be able to pull a little more power out of it. MSD boost timing master, allows you to control your timing, the SAFC is a fuel controller to adjust your fuel curve.

Water Injection is a good thing, it should lower your intake temps and prevent detonation also.

A cam and cam-gear would help a bit however wont do much alone, i would look into doing a mini-me vtec conversion to your motor first

Re: supercharged crx upgrade help

dont forget that the afc doesnt change pulsewidth it simply scales map sensor output to the ecu with the side effect of deflecting timing and effectively making the car more difficult to tune properly since the ecu is feeding the engine fuel & timing from incorrect table values

so what your saying is getting hondata could take the place of the SAFC and probably be a lot more tunable/efficient.

Feed your family first.

Anyways, If your in California running on 91 octane and your probably paying alot for the race gas. Get the water injection to save money. It is cheaper to do the water alky injection. More money to feed the family It will cool intake temps better.

2.5 header on a 2.5 hi flo cat/test pipe on a decent exhaust will be fine.

hondata on some controllable injectors will be a big plus.

If you want more power from your setup, the hondata is the key. Actually, tuning is the key.
