Question Drag Racing Question

I am going to go to Route 66 in IL tomorrow for their "Test and Tune" day. I have a 1995 Acura Integra LS with intake, header, exhaust - I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to my car, so that I would run faster at the track. I was thinking about running open headers. Good idea? If you have some ideas, please do list - your opinions are appreciated. If anyone wants to come its $25 for a run card and $11 admission (Free Parking). Gates open at 4pm For more info go to

Re: Drag Racing Question

Take out your spare, tire jack, rear seat if you can (or even the top half). And I'm assuming that you don't have a sound system (subs and stuff) in there or you wouldn't be asking about weight loss. But yeah if you run with no exhaust too you'll be a little faster. Try all of those things and you'll improve your track times.

Re: Drag Racing Question

Dude, how could he run with no exhaust < You could always run a quarter tank of racing fuel, it will not only give your teg a little kick it will clean some varnish from your internals, like the valves & tops of the pistons , also if you are going to start putting more mods on it a cheap one that will definatly help after a intake, exhaust, and header would be a fuel pressure regulator modifier upgrade(60-70$). You will also need a fuel pressure gauge to make sure you dont bump the pressure up to much. Pull out your spark plugs befor you go and clean them, and see how your combustion chamber is firing(should be a darkish almost tan brown).Another trick to make some horse power i know for most performance cars is to put them back in with the open part of the electrode facing the exhaust manifold(toward you on a LS). So put a piece of tape on the ratchet extension that matches up with the open part of the plug, tighten it and when it is facing you its good. What ever you do dont over tighten good luck drive fast, dont over kill it though

Simple you take off your exhaust at the header. What is confusing about that idea to you? Yes it will be loud but you're at the freaking track and no one is going to care. And if they do then too bad there are tons of muscle cars that will be louder than running just a header. I mean he's not going to get a lot more hp out of it, but if he loses as much stuff as possible and has more exhaust flow then that will all add up to some difference in ¼ times; maybe a few tenths of a second.

Re: Drag Racing Question

Delerious - I'm thinking of going there today as well. Do you know if they require a helmet? I don't have one, and if I do need one, do they have loaners there?

No you don't need a helmet unless you are doing under 13.99 i think. They don't have loaners there. I am going to head out in about 20mins. Just remember...i found out today....you have to pay $11 admission + $25 for the run car. So bring AT LEAST $40. I know...it sucks. I am just goin to run with my spare out and thats it. Juice...wat kind of car do you have? I will be runnin a 95 white integra 2 door...lowered with stock wheels. I am hopin to run 15 flat. I beat a brand new nissan sentra se-r spec v (6speed) or watever by a bumber...i got it on tape...i will try to upload it on here and show you guys. THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS! IT HELPS!
