Angry '03 Sunfire GT BIG PROBLEMS HELP!

I've had these problems for a year and a half and Dealership has no clue as to what is wrong! (1) - Idles very low (250-500rpm) - this happens at least everyday now and will continue every time I use the clutch until I come to a complete stop and wait for 10-15 secs. (2) - Idles very high (3500-5000rpm!!!) - this happen mostly after I've been on the highway for more than half an hour and again I have to stop and wait for it to correct itself. (3) - Stalls - this only acts up every month to month and a half but will do it 4-12 time in a row. Doesn't matter what speed I'm going 10- 140kph, and only happens when I use the clutch. Someone HELP, I'd really like to do this car up but not unless I can fix or tell the Dealership how to fix these problems. By the way I think it's 1 thing causing all these problems. Thanks!

well im thinking it can either be an internal problem with the firing sequence to the spark plugs that gives a low rpm and causes it to idel low, the other thing is check ur hydralic lines for the clutch and gears good luck

thanks for replying, but my dealer and I don't really think it's any of thoses suggestions. Also, a week ago the service manager at my dealership said that he go a memo about similar problems with the Sunfires and said it required a valve replacment. They didn't however mention what valve that woulb be so he said he'd get back to me. I phoned today and the service manager has left the company and the new one has no idea what I'm talking about.
I'd really appreciate any other suggestions any of may have. THANKS

Re: '03 Sunfire GT BIG PROBLEMS HELP!

you have a bad or dirty IAC motor. It's located in the throttle body and adjusts fuel/air metering at idle and also at quick throttle opening/closing. It's an easy do it yourself fix, two screws attach it to the throttle body.

I'm inclined to along with Richtazz on this one, it's sound like a Idle Adjustement Control problem and it is probably the IAC motor. But the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) could be at fault also since it controls the IAC motor.

I had a similar problem with my 2002 sunfire 8 months back and I would be at a light and it would rev up to 3500 rpm’s and down to 500 it stalled a couple of times. I brought it in to the dealership and they found out that the air conditioning wire was grounding. Might want to check that out.. Hope it helps.
