Best SC for an Auto.

I was wondering whats the best SC to get for an auto.? Something thats good for everyday driving but can win some races

Also what kind of upgrades can i do to my transmission to handle the extra HP? I was looking at Import Performance Transmissions and they have.. i guess u would say.. high performance transmissions??. would that be the best way to go?

Dude you wanna supercharge? I was gonna do the same but there is so much problems with doing this. the three systems I looked up where RIPP mods, Knight Turbos Eaton unit and GTPro's. the Gtpro unit is an old knight turbo design that uses a vortec blower and a jackshaft. the jackshaft bearings break after a short while and the whole setup goes to hell. the RIPP mods also uses a jackshaft, trouble is no-one actuall has installed this and ran it long enough to say if its good or not. so far its still a prototype and my car aint no one guiniepig! also it might suffer from the same Jackshaft problems. the Eaton unit sounds solid, also its a very reliable unit but there is some trouble as to how to fit it, alot of people who have purchased it have ended up selling it cause it woundt fit right. as of now I am still doing research cause I dont want to turbo my car and I cant find a soul who has done a SC setup that works, or if there is the sonobabitch wont come out and say "I did it and here is what you have to do if you wanna run a SC too"! if you find anything out let me know, I'm still looking.

when I first heard complaints about the eaton no fitting right I thought they meant it did not bolt up properly. someone on 3si.org told me that the problem is the hood wont close cause its too tall. Now I know that Thomas Knight is not an idiot, I figure the man would at least test to see if the thing fits before trying to sell it but when I went to him dirrectly I got no respponse back from him (I called and e-mailled twice). so now I'm wondering just how reliable this unit is. which where you gonna buy? and sorry but I dont know about your tranny question. I guess we are kinda in the same boat.

Re: Best SC for an Auto.

I cant find the procharger on ebay that u were talkin about. all of them are thomas night SCs. i did however look up a site that makes the prochargers an they dont make one for the 3kgt/stealth. so is there anywhere i can get this custom procharger other than ebay?

Re: Best SC for an Auto.

I dont undertand the setup on that.. it looks like the pipe from the radiator goes straight to the intake filter? and it says somethin about a blow-off valve... SCs have that? i thought only turbos did

Vortec style SC's have a BOV. That gut with the marine SC set up, I know his story. the guy had a Thomas Knight SC and like I said b4, the jackshaft went to crap, so they addapted a boat SC with a wierd bottom shaft set up and it worked, but its a freaking frankenstien. he is lucky it works and no one else produces that style. RIPP is still at it I guess, we gotts wait and see how thier system turns out. sucks though cause you gotta change the headers, with that comes removing the heat shield, if so you melt the radiator, gotta get an aluminum radiator and fan assembly or cut out vents on the hood to dessipate heat. too much money spent IMO. but hey its an even bigger pain to go turbo.
