Low Coolant Sensor or switch

Hello Aurora Drivers:

Any one know or has replaced the "coolant sensor or switch"
This shows up on the "DIC" Driver Informatiom Center.

The book shows two possible locations, under tghe surge tank or on the wall facing the motor mounted on the radiator.

Just changed radiator and water pump. I had to stand by and show a Chev Dealer how to do it. Including parts and labor out the door $ 700.00.

The only problem I am having the "DIC: is showing low coolant and the surge tank is full and the cooling system is ok.

Came back on Thursday on I-5 in California in 108 degree heat and the Aurora ran cool, no over heating.

Any help would be great.

Unless I'm mistaken, the coolant level sensor is the one under the surge tank. I think the one on the radiator is the temperature sensor that gets fed to your gauge in the dash.

I'd shoot for the one under the surge tank. Maybe even just cleaning the connections could help. I know I've slopped some antifreeze over the lip of that before. I'm sure it ended up dribbling over that stuff ender there...

I also have a '96 Monte Carlo Z34 and recently had the water pump replaced and I had the exact same problem with the low coolant light flashing, but it wasn't running hot and was full. I took it back and the mechanic disconnected the sensor saying it was bad. Not sure if he was right, but it stopped flashing...I hope it doesn't get low for real and I don't notice b.c we all know the mechanics don't check the coolant like they say they do when they change your oil.

Get a new mechanic, not all are liars. In fact the majority are honest people, a lot like gun owners.
