Question 98 Camry overheating???

The temperature dial shows a few degrees below the middle when I have driven a few city miles. It almost always stays there even on the highway... at normal weather conditions. Is this normal??

Also, during pick-up, the RPM goes to somewhere around 3 to 4 k and it stays on 2 to 2.2 k when running on a constant speed. Is this OK?

Please let me know, I'm new to cars and this car's precious to me... don't wanna mess it up!

Thanks a lot!

Yes, both items are perfectly normal. Please do yourself a favor and check your oil and coolant levels once a week. For safety's sake, check them when your engine is dead cold, such as it hasn't been driven all night and you check them in the morning before starting the engine. Just make sure your car is on a level surface so you can get true readings. Good luck.
