Question Automatic 12v Power lead

Hey, just a simple question,
If i wana have my amp off sometimes, can i just put a simple toggle switch on the blue 12v auto power lead thats comes from the deck to the amp... im guessing i can, if so what do i need, just some little switch with power in and power out?
Thanks

ya just put in a toggle for your REM line and then you can turn it on and shut it off when you want to (might have to shut off and turn off headset when you toggle it on after radio has been running without the amp on however (such as if the amp goes into protect and you "reboot" ur headset to turn the amp on, but im not quite sure how yours will work)

Re: Automatic 12v Power lead

all that you will need is a toggle, some butt connectors to fit the toggles terminals and a wire crimper if yo dont allready have one (needlenose pliers can do the job to but not quite so securely. You can get a toggle that glows if you want but it requires an extra line to a power source and can glow when on and be off when the amp is shut off. depending on how nice you can get this set up. I,d hide it under the stearing column somewhere tho. hope this helps!

Re: Automatic 12v Power lead

how did it work out for you? one thing to keep in mind is you might want to shut off your headunit before turning the amp power toggle to "on" and then start ur headunit to keep the toggle from sparking when contact is made to power on, but this aint a very big deal.

Re: Automatic 12v Power lead

Yeah it works fine, it dosnt seem to be a problem like turning the switch on while the deck is on i guess its kinda the same as manualy turning the deck on. Really conveninet, i was in a car park and some one told me my system had nothing, then i flicked the switch and they shut up. THanks for your help.
