Lightbulb 350 Sc

That it, I am 18 years old and live close to jax fl. i got out every saturday night street racin and i take my 86 gt i dont race or anything i just watch all these little hondas race like they have something, my car is a plain Gt just with staight pipe which makes it sounds sweet i am going to put a 350 in my car and i want to SC it i was wondering if anyone has done this around jax if anyone knows so i can look at the car, another thing is, is the car going to stay cool cause i will use it as a every day driver and dont want a car that heats up all the time. I am going to go stealth on this car so know one knows what i have just going to have a flowmaster. Another thing is if i go carb will i still be able to use all my normal gauges. if anyone has any imput please let me know this project is going to take a while cause i still have to finish highschool and i start UTI in january so i will be doing it in my spare time.

Re: 350 Sc

If you put in a 350, it should have enough power that there is no need to SC it. Many use a 3800SC engine from GM which cranks out 240-260 HP(depending on which engine you use) that will run as fast as SBC engines.

Unless you have the time and MONEY, this is not a short term project.

Re: 350 Sc

I want to do the same and this is what I have studied so far. Put the small block in first then drive it for a while to get used to the power. Upgrade your brakes to beretta vented rotors/calipers. The beretta rotors are way thicker than fieros the calipers also0 have bigger pistons. Also upgrade your shocks and add some sway bars and strut tower braces. Then add a TWIN SCREW supercharger. Run that at like 5-7psi. Build up your internals forged pistons, forged rods, arp rod bolts, titanium valve springs or stainless steel, titanium valves, new cam, intake manifold, bigger injectors, then turn the boost to like 15psi. the biggest and widest drag radials you can put on the fiero.

I left a few things out but after that build buy some racing seats and 4 point harnesses and hold on for dear life. If that ain't overkill than I don't know what is.

My realistic time to have this project complete is in the range of about the next couple of years, not before X-mas

Re: 350 Sc

Turbo? you ever try to turbo a carb engine? They run horrible. Use a weiand 671 blower with twin holley 750 double pumpers - this is at LEAST a $4,500 fuel system but it's been done many, many times on a 350SB and it WORKS. As for gauges, when it comes to oil pressure and temp, you don't want to dump 10K into an engine and trust 14 year old gauges that were never really that accurate to begin with to tell you what's wrong. The stock speedo is fine, but will need professional recalibration if you change wheel and tire size. The stock tach should be replaced. The fuel gauge can stay put.

Wanted to buy:
86-88 Fiero GT, 5 speed, fixer-upper. Blown motor, no motor? No problem! Rusty unibodies need not apply.
74-79 Ramcharger or 100, slant or no motor - not interested in v8 - Overdrive 4 is a big plus, NO hopeless rust buckets!!!
3Rd gen F body floor pans/camaro door skin (L)

Why is it I see so many "Proud to be an American" bumper stickers on the backs of cars made in Japan or Korea??????
