Dual exhausts for 2.8L

My son is wanting to put dual exhausts on his 1985 s-10 whith 2.8l engine. Someone told me they could actually impede the performance of the engine due to it being a 2.8l. Can anyone help me out with this? I don't mind doing it as long as it doesn't hurt the performance. I just put a rebuilt engine in the vehicle.

i have a single exhaust with a glass pack and it sounds good and still kinda runs good.i wouldnt go dual exhaust unless you have headers

Re: Dual exhausts for 2.8L

Why not try a "cat-back" exhaust system. This will help the performance a little and you can make it sound however you want.
I agree with "hotwheelsgt" - unless you are going to add headers, a true dual exhaust is useless.
