1999 dodge durango overheating
Hi All,
My dodge durago has 102k miles oon it and at least the last 15k it has been running very hot. It almost hits the overheat mark but rums about 240 degrees. I have tried to put antifreeze in the car but it seems like the anti freeze never goes down but bubbles onto the ground. Yesterday while doing 90mph it finally went to 260 and over heated a little bit. The dodge durango heat gauge used to only go between the first line and half on the meter and now it is all the way to the top. Does that sound like a thermostat? Thanks, Joe |

Yea I put AF in the overflow and then when I put it in the radiator it does not go down when it gets hot so I am assuming it is full or the thermastat is not opening.
It has been running hot for a long time. Thanks, jack |

Re: 1999 dodge durango overheating
Well of course the rad won't take antifreeze when it's hot.
When the motor is cold, fill the rad with antifreeze. It sounds like you're running the truck with such low water, that when it heats up and you decide to add water to it, it's already way too hot to do so. You gotta figure out what's going wrong with the motor cold.

Hey There,
When it is cold it is full to the top. I let the engine get hot and it just bubbles over. I don't think the thermastat is opening but on the way to work today and it was running at 260 degrees so I droped it off at the gas station. Hopefully it won't cost much. I will keep you posted. On another note. I had a tune up done for 89$ and it ran great for a day but now it is back to running rough. I don't know. Thanks, Jack |

I talked to the gas station. They said the thermastat was stuck. They put in a new one and flushed the radiator.
I will let you know it turns out. Thanks, jack |

Quote:
1. Thermastat 12$ 2. Flush the radiator 25$ 3. I had them do a tune up last week 85$ 4. Fix right tire.. There was a nail in it 20$ 5. New serpintine belt 15$ 6. Labor 160$ 7. I had the rear wheel sensor replaced 1 year ago and now it is gone again. I must say the car runs like I just took it off the lot. Thanks, Jack |
