Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

Ok guys, your responses to my last thread helped me loads. Now the finale'.

Should I get a Phantom Grip LSD or Quaife?

Quaife is a ton more expensive but I have heard about it from so many people that it is the bomBz. Aight ya'll?

Phantom grip is less than 1/4th Quaife's price, and has some good "online" reviews.

I am really confused. Tell me which one I should get, I need to order within the next week!

Thanks! Shumyyal.

Re: Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

johnnybgood (in the 2000+ forum) said that the comparison of how good it is is relevant to the cost, the quaife costs more so its better the phantom grip doesn't, and doesn't perform quite as well...since i'm on a SERIOUS budget...i'm sticking w/ the phantom grip

Re: Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

the phantom grip won't "hurt" my car because it is cheap, would it? I am talking about any unknown stress factors the cheaper component might place on related parts etc...if it will perform a little below the quaife, I don't mind that, I just need reasonable traction to get rid of blasted wheel hop. The price seems a whole lot more reasonable. What do you think?

Re: Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

I did some research on the phantom grips. Nothing. They post their own reviews, so nothing solid to go by. Quaife has bulletproof reputation, but 4 times the cost... I will probably have to swing by a transmission place and ask them.

Re: Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

You can't find anyone to sing the praises of the Phantom Grip but lots of people say the Quaife is great. Doesn't that tell you something?

What my google search found:

how does one "break" a weak spyder gear? Does the Quaife part include stronger gears?

Re: Phantom Grip or Quaife America LSD

the kaaz is a clutch-type lsd that you have to replace the clutch on. Qauife is a solid gear system. you will never have to touch it again...

http://roadraceengineering.com/ecldrivetrain.htm

look at the bottom for the LSD's and a wealth of info on the Quaife. this is all you should need for convincing...

When I was considering a lsd, I did some searching and everything I found said the Quaife was the one to go with. I ended up finding one listed on dsmtrader.com. It was one of the best investments for my GS-T yet. I don't know about the others, but I will give a shout to the Quaife.
