I have a lotus elise 140, reg dec 97, calypso red, only had it a week and it is great.. infact its hard to explain quite how much fun this car is to drive!! shame you americans cant get hold of them. I think its due to the fact that they are pretty flimsy in an accident.. but i could be talking rubbish.

You can get one with a mildly massaged Integra Type R engine (just over 200hp, or lots more than standard), for 55000 US, and it is street legal. You will have to contact Sun something, in California.

If you are really serious about it, I could dig out their number for you.

I spoke to them and they import and convert the Elise's for the US. It will cost you over $70k to get one of these cars (that will cost you $35k next year to buy legally for the US). For the money, this car is difficult to beat.

I have spoken at length to the folks at Lotus NA, and I am very interested in both their street and track versions of the Elise. Expect them here in the spring of next year (that according to Symbolic).

Brad

What time in 2003?
I shame that all good british cars get converted to the USA standards, and you get a downfall in car quality, as the demand is higher. Also US regulations will make the elise still good looking, but not super fast or a "superthrill" to drive
