97 Sierra Problems

The problem is my gas, im getting like 12 miles to the gallon. Are there any products to help? Im thinking about buying one of those tornado air savers from the speed channel to see if that helps. Im about to replace my fuel line (its just bad) and im going to replace the spark plugs. Im saving up now for new headers that are suposed to help the gas. Just wondering if there are any more parts I can buy to help.

Re: 97 Sierra Problems

on my truck which is 1996 GMC 1/2 5.7L ext.cab. I have hyper-tech spacer,K@N fliter, home aid cold air system, duel exhaust and I get in the 21mpg+ and that is with a visor the visor itself drops you 3 to 5 mpg. I would go and get your truck scanned the scanner will tell you what you timing is at or you can check it your self but if it is out you need the scanner to reset it it should be at 0 or plus or minus 2. I noticed mine was getting bad mileage because of the timing plus gutless.plus check or change plugs with factory ones they cost a bit, then check plug wires see what the ohms is reading mine are at 9 or 10, change cap and rotor if you are going to to all of this change the fuel filter to. if your changing your exhaust stay in the 2 1/2 inch pipes if you are going duel, single stay in the 3 1/2 inch .plus keep the converters on. tires proper air.guessing your gears are 3.42.my 21 mpg is highway in town I don't want to now there is two steps 1/4 and 1/2 on the gas.

Im on http://www.hypertech-inc.com/ and dont see the spacers, did you buy the whole k&n deal with the filter and intake tubes. Im just going to buy the filter and keep it in the box that comes. Im getting new spark plugs from Bosch. I want the plus2 but I want to know if it works better than the 1. Im also getting the flowmaster duel exhaust. Anything else I can do? Do you have any picture of your home-made intake system?

Re: 97 Sierra Problems

www.sshotrods.com are pics that show you step by step on how to do it. its not the true deal but it works.I was way out on the spacer I guess it was Helix Power Tower it was awhile ago since I bought I must have been thinking of something different. I have heard that staying with stock plug is much better than aftermarket but it is up to you. When you change your exhaust much better with stainless steel it will be a long time before you have to change the pipes.
