Question Starter 1995 lumina

I tried to start my car and it was dead. No clicking, nothing. We removed the starter and had it tested, it was bad. We installed the new one and it isn't working. When you turn the key you can hear the starter spinning but it does not engage. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be???? We also had the new starter tested and they said it was fine. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!! THANKS

So when they tested rhe new one and said it was fine, they were wrong? I thought this might be the case.

Re: Starter 1995 lumina

flywheel could have teeth missing that would let the starter just spin. you might check that if the new one doesnt work

Re: Starter 1995 lumina

We rechecked everything . Its not the starter and its not the flywheel. Could it be the ignition switch?

Re: Starter 1995 lumina

You didn't reverse 2 smaller wires to it, did you? The coil for the plunger that drives the pinion gear out the engage has to get its power first, or it wont kick it out.

Re: Starter 1995 lumina

The problem is solved !! There was a broken wire in the ignition. It wasn't the starter after all. Thanks for the help .
