Tamiya Mercedes DTM ?

Hey everyone, just trying to finish up my CLK DTM and had a question regarding the taillights: The instructions state to mask off the clear portion and paint the outside of the lens. is this right? Doesn't painting the inside usually look better?

Re: Tamiya Mercedes DTM ?

inside is better yes, but paint may run below the mask becose of the small detail on it. it's quite hard to do, I did it all red

only way to get it right is to paint it from the outside, with the mask and using an airbrush

I prefer to mask and paint both sides, I use an airbrush because you can get a smooth finish on the outside and the color builds up quicker if you do both sides. If you don't use an airbrush it is better to paint the inside only.
