95 buick regal oil pan removal

Having trouble getting oil pan out. everything unbolted but cant seem to get right angle to slide pan out past frame. Anyone have an idea or know what I might be doing wrong.....Hellllllp pls

Not sure of the underbody of the regal, but try removing the oil foltr, it might make it easier.

I have the same problem. Only I have a 1994 buick regal. Were you able to remove the oil pan? Anyone else reading this please help. I removed all the bolts and have even loosened the motor mounts. I lifted the motor a few inches hoping it would allow the pan enough room to be taken out. No luck! Please help.

I'm assuming you both have the 3800 engine. The oil pans changed between 1994 and 1995 on the VIN L 3800 (Series I). The 1995 oil pan is just like that on the Series II 3800. I inquired about this for my '95 Regal GS w/ VIN L 3800 at a local shop. I was told it's about a 3 hour job to change the oil pan gasket (on a '95 Regal w/3800, '94 may be different) according to Chilton labor guide. It says you must disconnect the power steering lines (because they run along the frame by the oil pan and get in the way), drop the subframe, and raise the engine to get the oil pan off. I ended up not needing to have the job done because my oil leak was coming from the lower intake (which I repaired myself) on the driver's side and not the oil pan.

I don't know jack about the 3.1L MPFI/3100 SFI oil pans so I hope you both have a 3800 (most '91+ Regals did).

Could you loosen the pan, and carefully slide the gasket out, replace it, and not comepletely remove the pan? seems easier that tearing the car apart...

That doesnt work the oil pan gasket has a built in windage tray and you have to have alot of clearance to remove the gasket.

The frame is in your way and the only way to get it out is to move the frame. I would assume you have a 3.8 and the oil pickup goes to the bottom of the pan. Two things that can hold you up even with the frame lowered is the oil level sensor mounted in the front of the pan and the pickup screen.

Are you removing the pan for oil leaks if so you may have other leaks that make the oil pan look like its leaking. On this engine the rear main seal is installed into a housing. This housing has a fibre gasket that gets brittle and you get a leak at the camshaft area. The best way to check for this leak is to look at the top of the engine near the trans connector. You will see a small hole on the block right below the manifold. Stick your finger in there if you get oil than your rear main housing is leaking. To fix that leak you will have to remove the trans or the engine.

Thanks to everyone that responded! I punched a hole in the oil pan and trans. pan. I have already replaced the trans. pan. I will try raising the engine and dropping the subframe this weekend. Is it difficult to disconnect the power steering lines? Also, anything I need to consider when doing that? Yes, I do have a 3800. One more question. I found an oil pan at a salvage yard. The guy said it was for a 94 Olds. 3.8 ltr. He said it would fit. However, It does not have a place for the oil level sensor. I don't really care about the sensor unless I really need it. I change the oil on a regular basis anyway. Thanks again to Ruley73, tman2093, Big-L, and Flatrater!!!
