Hey. Im planning on buying a 240sx. I want to build it as a drift car. I think I want to iimport an SR20 DET, but I dont know what is legal in the US and what isnt. If anybody knows or has any suggestions, please e-mail me. Thanks.

if you don't know that you shoudn't be drifting

but yes if you run the right exhaust you can get past cali standards its all about setup

That doesnt help. I need examples of what works. I know the S14 is legal, but i was hoping for the S15.

wrong, all sr20's are illegal.

you can still pass emissions, but if they pull a visual inspection and see its an sr20, then most likely youre gonna hafta get it removed or have your whole car impounded.

wow that is amazing u can pass emmisions w/ a sr20 but u cant pass the visual inspection if u have one it all depends on where u live i live in florida and dont have to deal w/ any of that stuff. how do u plan on getting a s 15 u must be one rich mo fo if u plan on importing a s 15 into america. if u can afford importing a s 15 then more power to u. do u know what u want to do to this s 14 or s 15 after u get it to set it up for drifting?

aand logik i know u know this and u must have just forgetten but the front wheel drive sr20 that wherei the sentra i think they were in the sentra they are legal but the rwd sr20 is illegal

thats right, the front wheel drive Sr20DE is a different engine then the RWD sr20det

the turbo makes all the difference, Now say you had a sentra and swapped in a SR20det, you could get away with it, in the end all you could have to say is that you put a turbo on your stock engine.

in the technical aspects of government, and in lay man's terms FWD sr20de does not equal rwd sr20det

how much cash do u have? do u have a s14 or a s13? and is this car solely for drifting or gunna be a daily driver?

just run a rb26dett like i did i don't let anyone even touch my hood w/o permision and like thats going to happen my uncle is a state trooper and he said both are legal he does the testing on all of the parts i make and the ones i buy
