How to stop auto headlights?

I know there is a thread about shutting off daytime lights. They don't bother me, but I would like to be able to turn my headlights on and off when I choose. I have a '99 Alero V6 and it bugs the hell out of me when I want to park with the car running and I have to shut it off, set the parking and restart the car. Is there a way to get around this and use the control on the turn signal lever only?

Here is what you can do, insted of turning your car off every time you want to have the day lights to turn off, you can actually just locate the sensor that is located by the vetns up towards your windshield. Cover it up with your hand for a few seconds and it should turn on your regular lights then use your regular light switch to turn them off. try it see how this works.
