Which Turbo Kit For 240sx??

I want a greddy turbo kit, but i know there are different models. There are the bigger ones, the smaller ones, i know turbos can be adjusted to different PSIs. How do i know which turbos have what PSI range. How do you adjust the PSI? do you get instructions on how to when you buy the turbo? Im going to rebuild my KA24DE and put some forged pistons and rods with lower compression and get it ready for turbo. Any advice on which pistons and rods i should go for? Im also going to bore out .20 over because it has over 100k miles so might as well.

If you guys have 240s with turbos let me know what year you got and which turbos you got and what PSI you are running your stock compression engines with and what you guys run with turbo pistons and the horse power it gave you at what PSI about. Thanks

Re: Which Turbo Kit For 240sx??

turbos are adjusted with a boost controller, what the manual one does is bleeds of the acess boost untill the desired boost level is reached.

as for turbo size it depends on the turbine a/r and comperssor, the smaller the turbine the faster it spools up and makes power but it top out quicker.. example t-25(sr20det) will top out around 15-16 psi i belive.. i believe the a/r is a .54 or some thing around there. a bigger a/r turbo like a .68 will be able to proudce 25+psi easily.. but will be more laggy, you will see boost at 2400 with the t25 but the bigger turbo will get you boost alot later like around 3500rpms.. also a bigger turbo will flow more air of cfm into your motor then a small turbo, exapmle, the t-25 might flow around 250cfm(just a guess) while a greddy td-06 20g might flow 450-500cfm(guess) so them more air into your motor more hp, also 8psi on a bigger turbo might be the same as 12 psi on a smaller turbo..

as i said before google is your friend go look up turbo info..

as for pistions get dish pistons, fogerd.. dish pistons will lower your comp. aslo..

also get good fuel fuel managment, you need bigger injectors for more then 7psi.. i say got with some big 450cc and a new fuel rail, 2255intank, adj, fpr, safc to tune it all.. good luck

Re: Which Turbo Kit For 240sx??

Just to let you know, if you have decent compression, a rebuild may not even be necessary. You should try a kit on the stock engine and learn to tune on that. It would suck to put all that shit in the engine and not know how to tune it. My advice, run 7psi w/ an intercooler on the stock engine and get that running well. In the meantime, look for a blown engine out of a junkyard and rebuild that. Turbine ar judges when the turbo spools. This is a major factor in where in your RPM range you will make power. For instance, a .48 ar turbine will probably spool by 2k. But a .84 will probably spool close to 4k if not at it. Compressor ar tells how much the turbo will flow. The a factor is the outlet size ultimately determining flow. The compressor ar will also determine spool times, but not as much. You would look for a large compressor ar for more flow. The wheel trim determines where it is efficient. If the turbo isn't running efficient, it is creating more heat while compressing. You will learn that heat is a very bad thing. There are a few other things such as vanes, manifold design, exhaust size and design and so on. Look for what the turbo flows to determine how much power you can make. Read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell or Turbochargers by Hugh Macinnes. Fogered??????hahaha turbo2nr. Just messin. He meant forged if you were confused. Get a front mount intercooler if you go past 7psi or boom is very possible.
