what's up with the lack of aftermarket for the new celica? i'm thinking of getting a celica but since theres not much aftermarket i think i might have to reconsider.

Dude, get a Celica. There isn't a lack of aftermarket parts - you just have to know where to look, ya know? Take my advice - you will not regret getting one and you can have so much fun with them! Just make sure and get a GT, okay?:sun:

Hey Johnie! Just read your post and I do agree with Celibria in that you should get a Celica....but not necessarily the GT. I own a 2000 GT-S and I will admit that the lack of aftermarket support has stirred my interest in other vehicles. I think that due to the more friendly compression in the GT.....it is easier for aftermarket suppiers to R/D and market stuff for the GT! The GT-S is a much more potent machine...and even with most of the mods the GT has available, with the GT-S and good DRIVER, the GT-S is still a superior car. The support for the Celica is slow but actually the 7Th Gen Celica is TOTALLY new and it's only been out for 2 years....be patient and the support will come(hopefully)! Truely the best thing for you to do is to drive both the GT and the GT-S at the dealership...and don;'t be afraid to take the GT-S to its limits when reving...it requires high srung driving due to no bottom end torque but the lift at about 6k RPM will be most satisfying!!!!:sun:

Hey, theres a hellufalot more aftermarket support for the new Celicas than any other generation. Ive seen plenty so far!

The market for the new celicas is growing at a very quick pace with intakes, exhaust, body kits, etc already out by various companies. An affordable supercharger and turbo kit should be out very soon as well.

TRD doesnt make a strut bar for the new celicas? the only JDM bar i found was from tanabe.

I like the new Celica a lot but its weakest link is definitely its aftermarket support. Toyota wanted to make the car compete more with the Integra/RSX and did so in stock form but comparitively, the Celica has a lot less aftermarket parts than anything by Honda. The car is not as mod-friendly as most of its competition. Toyota also did a half-ass job of bringing TRD to the USA. Although TRD-USA does make quality parts, I've heard numerous complaints about the service and some of their stuff is overpriced (and some is not street legal).

Overall if you want to do serious modding, the Celica is not a good choice. The most HP I've seen in a non-custom Celica is the XS Engineering turbo which pulls out 250hp to the wheels. That's not too shabby but it costs $6k and can only be done by a shop in SoCal. Other than that you are limited to a few basic bolt ons that can maybe get you into the very low 200hp range. (excluding any Japanese parts that I might not know about).

man i baught a 2000 gts and i love it. i've raced several honda civics and ive always won.my friend has an si with headers CAI and a few other mods, i beat his car by a full car length in stock form.i've raced 2 integra's with variouse mods done to them and i've beet both. the celica is a great platform and is really gaining aftermarket support.trd will have a supercharger out soon, and there are a couple of turbos out now to. remember... its a brand new platform and its not a honda so aftermarket takes a while..but in the end its far better.:smoker2:

Newer generation Celica mods are plentiful. just like Celibria you have to know where to look. My brother-in-law owns a shop in Tampa that carries a sh!tload of mods. AEM, Injen, K&N, Thermal, Eibach, Hotchkis, Jet, Bilstein, Unorthodox Racing....etc. Lemme know if you need anything, see if I can getcha a good deal. [email protected]

agreed, celicas have a very good aftermarket, i've looked all into it, they even have turbo and super charger kits out now, headers, flywheels, LSD, clutches, whatever. the aftermarket is just fine, just do a lil research and you'll see.

i've raced a 98' prelude and from what i could tell he had exhaust, i have TRD exhaust annd AEM intake and i smoked'm, maybe the driver just sucked, i dunno, but i have witnesses, i've also raced a turbo jetta and he barely won (his rear quarter pannel was even with my front quarter panel) i've had tons of races and i've had WAY more wins than losses

TRD does make a rear strut tower bar, but not a front yet.

If you want a strut bar go to HyperMotive. They have a really nice strut bar for the 7th gen Celica. They also have various other tie bars and accessories. The bar is well worth it.
