Stock Intake Size

I have a 99 Malibu and I am trying to make a cold air intake but I can’t find what size the stock intake is. Also how would I attach this to the throttle body? Thanks

I've searched hi and low for a cold air intake and really couldn't find anything. What I ended up doing with my 2001 (3.1L) was replacing the filter element with a K&N OEM style filter and going into the wheel well and removing almost the entire intake tube...the existing one resticts it down to about half the size and takes 2 extra bends before going up behind the headlight. I just chopped mine about 2 inches after it gets into the wheel well. Since the wheel well is closed off pretty well with plastic guards and pieces of rubber, you really don't have to worry about debris but I still ended up putting a piece of screen over the end of it. The nice thing for me is I don't have any fog lamps so the opening for the for lamps forces air directly into the wheel well and gives a little forced air induction. I saw very little performance gain and/or gas mileage change in town, but a huge difference on the highway, especially when accelerating past 45mph.

Thanks, that was what i was planning on doing my self also. I already have the filter, probalby going to buy the tubing today then get everything installed tommorow.
