I just had my dash replaced under warranty due to a *little* bit of warping. I just noticed it today, but the tech didn't put the A-pillar cover on the passenger side back on correctly. It's not flush at the top with the headliner and it looks tacky. I would take it back to the dealership, but the only problem is that the closest Olds dealer is 30 miles away and I don't have the time or the petrol to go. There are only four Oldsmobile Dealers left in Colorado and that is the closest one to me. I wish they would let me take it to any Goodwrench dealer to have the fix it, but since it's a warranty repair, it has to be specifically Oldsmobile. So to my question: Does anyone know how to remove and properly replace the A-pillar cover? Thanks in advance.
As for the new dash, it's very nice. The only thing that bothers me is that they don't come with new passenger air bag covers. So, needless to say, the old air bag cover looks a little bit worn The car has a new car smell tho...it's nice.Jeremy |

Re: After getting new dash, having trouble with A-pillar cover
Just pull away from the pillar at the top and lift upward when the retainers are free. Install is the reverse...

Re: After getting new dash, having trouble with A-pillar cover
So I was reading about a year ago that this dash pad and door panel warping stuff was only isolated to some Aleros. Well, on the long walk to my car that's parked outside my dorm, I took a glance into 4 other Aleros and 1 Grand Am. All had some sort of warping issue. The Grand Am was a 4 door and at the top of both rear door panles, they had come completly loose from the door and were standing straight up. I'm seriously freeking out now, because if this happens again on my car, I will kill someone!!!

Hate to say it ,but my 00 Alero 4dr has the same problem. The fabric is lifting at the top of the rear doors near the small window. I'll probably get some fabric glue and reglue it. I have other problems with mine right now that are more important. Good luck, TomF

Re: After getting new dash, having trouble with A-pillar cover
I have a problem with my dash warping and also my door is doing the samething. My boss has an Alero also and she had hers replace under warranty but it did the exact samething. Could this just be faulty craftsmanship? What should I do about this issue?
Also my roof light falls off and only hanging by the wires. Someone said that there was nothing that could be done but I know there must be. |

Re: After getting new dash, having trouble with A-pillar cover
I had the same problem with my light falling all the time. It kept falling because of the groves in the plastic that attach to the frame of the car. I help my mom's friend rebuild wrecked Grand Am's and Alero's, so we had a spare light fixture lying around.
