Talking Just bought a Grd Vit JLX

I just got one today, I was checking out these posts and almost everyone had nothing but good stuff to say. I am a little worried about the timing belt thing, but I think I could do it myself it if came down to saving $750. I have done some similar stuff in the past on older cars.

Anyway, I will have to get a new stereo in it, it only has a tape deck. Does anyone have some recomendations for what to go with, and how easy it is to do yourself? I have only changed the stereo in my very first car (84 Buick Lesabre Limited, it was an old push button)I thought it was way easy. I also thought the speakers sounded decent for being all factory, but any recomended upgrades would be good to know about also?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Just bought a Grd Vit JLX

Hey there! I have a 2000 GV, probably has a similar deck. The manual shows an optional 6 CD player that mounts under the passenger seat, sells for around $250 from what I hear. Just plugs in to the existing system. Every time I mention putting a new deck in my Jeep, my wife bugs me about the CD player for her GV! I have a friend who has one and says he loves it...

I just recently installed a Clarion MP3 player to my XL-7 and it was really easy since the original radio was a Clarion under Suzuki name. You use the same plug from the factory radio.

Which one? Can you list the model number?

Wow, thanks for the replies, I ended up going with an MP3 player, but it is pioneer. I am not sure how easy it was though cuz I had my brother install it for me as he just got a job at BestBuy so I saved a ton of $$ for profesional install.

Thanks a bunch everyone!
