washer pump quit on 2001

The washer pump quit but the wipers work fine in all modes. Is there a relay to the pump or does it get direct voltage from the switch? I don't want to pull the pump to test it because its almost impossible to access. Where should I start?

Had this problem on a 99 caused by a short in the main computer that affected only the pump (so far). Dealer wanted $900 to replace the computer. Had it fixed locally by adding a button under dash and putting a pump in the washer fluid reservoir.
