Question 2003 making some strange sounds

Hello all,
I have 2 issues I was hoping somebody could give me some advise on. I have an '03 Silverado extended cab with a 5.3 L and 13500 miles.

First of all, lately when I make a right hand turn, I get a strange sound coming from what sounds like the front driver's side wheel. It sounds like a squeaking kind of clunking sound, like as if that tire is peeling out. Could this be a bearing going out, or possibly something even worse?
I read other threads where a guy had his engine misaligned with his drive shaft, and if this is one of the symptoms, then I want to find out early.

Ok, next. I think I am getting "Piston slap," which I have also read many posts about. When I start up cold, I can hear a clatter from the engine and it lasts for a couple of minutes. It is not too bad of a clatter at this point, but if I can do anything to prevent it from getting worse, I want to do whatever I can. Is there some kind of recall or something I can tell the dealer to get them to look at it or am I at the mercy of GM right now?

Any help from anybody with some experience would be appreciated.
