what is the recomed tire pressure for 17" aftermarket rims?

I runing 225/45-R17 and i have the fronts at 34psi and rear at 32psi
which seems very comfortable to me, but yesterday i had them balanced
and the shop got them tires all the way up to 44psi !!! which made the ride very stiff and unconfortable.

what psi on 17" rims you guys find most comfortable.

thanks

if the tires are low porfile then the tire pressure should be maintained pretty high. i was told to keep mine at 45-50 psi. i have 235/35/ZR19's though.

wow !!! that high, the sidewell says 44psi is max
but there is no way i can drive my car with tires pumped up that much - she was vibrating a lot with 44psi at 80mph

with around 34-36 things are much smoother

44 psi max, as per tire rack, also. i had mine on 32 psi on those same tires until i found out but i enjoyed the higher psi. Try 40 since the hi is supposed to 44 but remember fuel consumption. Hesitation? That should be checked out on those tires. Notify that shop and hear there recommendations, make sure the tires are in tip top shape.
