Re: Make your own Ram Air!
it will work, you may have to cut through some of that piece that goes across the front of the car but the ram air will work like hell. my brother utilized the holes on the front end of his ls1 and ran 4 inch dryer tubes down there and opened up his airbox and got a wisper lid and that car is friggin fast

Re: Make your own Ram Air!
Im just in the middle of doing that to mine. I cut out the bottom of the air lid but havent cut into the plastic piece that pushes the air into the rad. Im not going with the flexible crap they use though im going to make my own boxes out of stainless.
Just by cutting the bottom of the airbox out though I notice my engine makes a loud sucking noise now when I get on it. It sounds great. |

Re: Make your own Ram Air!
I doubt it. Is there a big hole around where your hood latch is mounted?? Thats where the snorkel goes around and its all open and goes right down into where the fog lights are.
That ram air is just a stock tpi intake with the bottom cut out and some pipe attached to it. |

Re: Make your own Ram Air!
its do-able for the fourth gens, but its not really worth the effort...

Re: Make your own Ram Air!
Umm If I had to guess I would say 5?? If you had crappy old filters and replaced them with high flows and modifed the airbox. Might be even less than that though. Ill get some more dyno numbers in september to see if it helps at all. So far ive done this and the throttle body coolant bypass.

Re: Make your own Ram Air!
im gonna say that its not worth the effort. the gain would probably be the same as any other ram air that's out there for the fourth gens, or even just the cold air stuff...
