Re: Weight Reduction
well i don't know about 5th gens, but most honda's have a little plastic clip you pull out while putting pressure on the seat. it's kinda hard to explain. just sit in the seat, on the front edge, and feel under the lip and gently put the clip, and then remove pressure, and lift out the seat (bottoms). then there will be bolts holding the backs onto the rear bottom. take them out (note they break easy), and then pop the seat upwards. i'm trying too hard to explain this, it's really quite simple. study the lip, with pressure on it, and it's cake from there.
as far as the hood, prolly like 20-30 pounds, if that. it's merely for looks, unless you're an all out racer.

Re: Weight Reduction
rear seats, but that will only get you straight line performance
you will throw off your car's balance the 5th ge is a very good handling car for it's weight but by removing a lot of rearward weight you will put too much weight up front and cause ur car to understeer IMO dont do it unless you only plan to go straight

Re: Weight Reduction
seriously, leave it all alone. you could ditch the spare, seats, carpet, trim panels, hood swap, dash
and prolly only gain MAYBE 0.15 in a quarter mile. and the car would look like shit. you could prolly gain 0.5 just by learning different shifting techniques. i'm not trying to rip on you, it's just most people don't know how to properly get the best time via shifting in a quater.
