Angry Car Wax

Hi!

I am just wondering if real car wax would work on plastic models. Apperently, the area which I live in doesn't sell any tamiya wax, and the hobby shops said they dont make it anymore. I think this guy is lying ,but he might be right.

Re: Car Wax

You can look online. Some places still have some of the Tamiya wax left. As far as using car wax. I have used it before and did not get good results with it. When I did my first car that is what I used and was not happy with the result. It is also a pain to use. Hope this helps.

Me too! Woopee! I thought I was crazy. Wax is wax, it all works. Fills scratches, makes it pretty. Probably cheaper than the Tamiya stuff, too.

I use Turtle Wax Ultimate 100% pure Carnuba wax. Which is a misnomer (as 100% pure carnuba wax is as hard as cured resin!).

You can use any car wax, but try and find some that has little to no distillates (as that MAY ruin decals/clearcoats, etc).

Re: Car Wax

Zymol is awesome though, it was made for BMW's, so go figure right. My best friend's dad's 530i shines and shines enlessly! It's awesome! But maguires works good too.

Re: Car Wax

I've actually used that Liquid Wax to some success, too.
It was one of those freebie trial-size numbers in the Wal-Mart Automotive Department!
Of course, I also use about 30 coats of clear on my cars, too....maybe that has something to do with it....
