Clutch and such!

After having the head gasket and other work done, I am now having problems wiht the clutch. One day it just started and came to the point that I would not drive it anymore and towed it to a friend. He thought it was just the 'master' cylinder or the 'slave' cylinder (not sure if I am using the rihgt terms). He fixed the master cylinder and that wasn't the problem, so now he thinks I need a new clutch. So I am wondering wouldn't I have noticed if the clutch was starting to fail? Not just notice it one day out of the blue! I think the last clutch that went on me was my 89' civic and it progressed from not good to bad over a longer period of time. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: Clutch and such!

Clutches can die in a minute.

If the car is in gear and the engine can't put power to the wheels, it's the clutch.

I think that the car will drive right now the problem I believe is in changing the gears. It started with shifting, I couldn't shift into gear. If the car was on gear it would go. Any other possible reason that it could be? Thanks for the response and the help/advice.

Re: Clutch and such!

Then the clutch is good and just not releasing. Probably your clutch line needs bleeding, like a brake line.
