Want to bypass air pump

I'm trying to bypass my air pump on my 88 chevy 4x4. It's got a 350, power steering, and no air conditioning. The problem is I cannot find the right size belt. The belt needs to be 70-71 inches long and 4 rib. If I try buying a belt for and engine that didn't come with an air pump, the pulleys are placed a little different and its an 80 inch belt. I had another 88 2wd with the same setup, but I haven't a clue where the belt came from, so I know this has been done before. I've tried every part store and on the net, can anyone help me?

Re: Want to bypass air pump

Don't use the net, for what your trying to do you need to go straight to the local parts store. If you want to bypass your pump, here's what you do. Adjust all your accessories in their middle positions, and then by using a piece of rope, measure aproximately how long your belt should be. Take that piece of rope to the parts store and see if they can match you up one. You may have to try different routing paths for the belt in order to find one that fits correctly. Every parts store has a belt sizing tool for measuring odd ball size belts. I should know I used to run one. Hope this helps -Chris

Re: Want to bypass air pump

Thanks for the advice, but already tried that. I'm really asking to see if anyone has done this mod before and know where to get the belt, or what the belt number is.
