Ported and sealed?

I am getting ready to buy two subs for my 1988 chevy blazer s-10. I was thinking either 2-10's or 2-12's, anyways, I was going to build my own boxes for them and was wondering if I could do one ported and one sealed. I already have a ROCKFORD FOSGATE 300 rms, 2 channel amp thats running my 2 6x9's right now. I was thinking about doing a plexiglass for the subs and put some neon in the box that turns on and off with the bass. what do u think? How could i do all of this?

Re: Ported and sealed?

don't build your box till you decide on your subs and most likely you buy them, you need to build your box to the reccomended volume that the manufacturers suggest otherwise it will sound crappy. I personally wouldn't do the diffrent ported and sealed boxes. What kind of sound are you looking for? this should dictate what type of box you build. Ported boxes give a deeper bass and can be lower powered generally. Sealed require more power generally and provide a sharper bass type of bass. what type of music do you listen to? The neons can be installed in many diffrent fashions as well. There are multiple threads on here and in the car interiors section that you could find help with this I don't quite feel like covering that now. If you do do these neons in a sealed box you need to make sure it stays "sealed" I would just use hot glue on it so it would blend with the plexiglass where your wires run in.
