Re: Improve horsepower and torque?

Bolt ons will not do much. INtake, header, and exhaust will give the most like 10-15 hp MAX.

The best thing to do is a motor swap, turbo or supercharge it.

Aren't those engines pretty much mod free? You can't do alot like the old engines where a cold intake would actually make a difference and you could feel it.

Re: Improve horsepower and torque?

Ya, Honda basically squeezed everything out of the D17 as they could. Just swap and/or turbo it.

the bolt ons do make some of a difference though, a cold air and full exhaust and u should feel the difference...not by much but the car will be a little quicker off the line

It's all in your head. You cannot feel 10hp increase. You hear the new mod which makes you feel like you are going faster. If you want to feel 10hp take out your spare tire and jack. That's the difference.

Doing a motor swap in most cases you get a more powerful engine. Most guys swap the D series engine for a B series engine - out of a INtegra LS, GS, GSR (170hp), or B16A (160hp) motor out of the Del Sol, 99-00 Civic Si, or JDM motor. Some more extremists do the Prelude motor (H22 or H23 - 200hp).

cam shaft

if you dont want to do the work of turbo, supercharger or swap. buy a longer duration cam. you could see up to 30 hp if the correct cam is selected. along with that cam if you have an extra $150 beans throw an adjustable timing gear on and do a valve adjustment. you will be happy. i was.
