How to pull codes on 99 Monte

Is there a way to pull computer codes without having a code reader? I know a code reader is convient, but I thought there was a way to 'read' the flashes and decypher what the code is. Key On/Off test, something like that?

No,you will need a code reader.

Yea you're gonna need a code reader. In older cars you can pull the codes without a reader, but not new ones. Autozone will get the codes for you for free, but thats Autozone.
