A/c Flashing Lights On 98 Caravan

I recently replaced my battery on my 98 caravan and I got flashing lights on the a/c,whiper buttons. I have had this problem before and did try the sequence that has been posted on this website. My problem is that after I'm done doing the correct sequence and manage to press the last flashing button, it goes back to the same. Please advice anyone on how to fix this problem.

Now try holding down the bottom two outside buttons one on left of panel and the one on the right. This runs the cool down test. You might have to run these test more than once. If the a.c. is not working properly you will fail this test.

This worked for me!

Forgot to mention, keep the a/c on high recirc

Double Holy Cow. Had the same problem after battery ran flat and had to jump start. It worked !

What is outside buttons on the left and on the right?

The button on the left is the Rear Wiper Spray, the button on the right is to switch the aircon on. good luck

Same thing happened to me when I changed the battery. Local garage recommended changing the Body Control Module at $455!

I said no, because we could live with the problem (as everything works). I will give this button pressing a try tonight and see if it works!

That garage was trying to fleece you , this is a well known I''ll call it a flaw with the 96-2000 models . I think this happens when you change the battery or the battery goes dead and the air circulation system is on when this happens . If it is off i don't think you will see it , I have changed the battery a couple times on my 96 and made surre the fan was off before changing and I have never seen the blinking console lights . It is a simple fix for this , just run the calibration test for the panel and at the end the lights should go out unless the test fails for some reason , sometimes you have to run the test more than once .

That's exactly it. The AC was on when the car wouldn't start any more, and I changed the battery.

It worked perfectly (1998 Grand Voyager SE - held the left and right buttons in for 5 secs, it went through the test and I pressed the last flashing button). Thanks to this forum for the suggestion. Much appreciated!

I did the hold down buttons test... Everything reset but the Recirc and AC still Flash

What I had posted is the 2nd step, the 1st step is listed below.

All you need to do is start your van. (if you are unsure what knob or lever is which I am looking in the manual for proper terms) Then slide your temp lever all the way to the right (full cold). Then turn the Mode Control to 'panel' (the one that sends air to your face only). Then turn the 'blower switch' to all the way to full. Now go to the leftmost three buttons. Press the top one (rear wiper on constant) and the bottom one (rear wiper washer fluid). Hold these two for a few seconds. Once the lights come on solid then begin to flash you can let go. The AC will now calibrate. You will feel the air blow out of all the different zones at different intervals and see lights come on and go off. Then after a minute or two the top bottn you pressed will be slowly flashing. This means it has been completed (I actually let it run for 5 more minutes just in case something else started blinking). Press the last flashing button and you are done.
