VTEC & I VTEC (whats the difference???)

hi im wondering since i have a 97 accord ex and its has vtec
and my friend have a rsx type s with i vtec whats the difference between the two

and how does the ivtec work? i know the mechanisn of the vtec but im dont know anything about ivtec
