Dual mufflers setup on my truck?

Hey i know new to nothing about modding and installing aftermarket parts for my truck but i want to learn through experience. Right now i have a 1999 extended cab 5.3 shortbed and i want to have a dual muffler, dual side exit exhaust. Like i said i know very little about installation so my question is what piping will i need for this install? I know flowmaster sells just the kits but thats only for a single muffler and i want it to have a very load and throaty sound. From what ive read i guess i might need the h pipe but thats about the extent of my knowledge. Oh, and I want to put dual original 40 series mufflers on my truck. Thanks for the help

Flow Master sells more than just the single out systems. Go to their site and look up kit number 17301 & 17302. These look to be single in dual out. If you want more of a true dual system I would recommend going to a muffler shop and telling them what you want. Many shops custom bend their own pipes. Something not easily done in the home garage.

If you want a loud and throaty exaust, dont get flowmaster. I have a 40 series and its kind of quiet, I dont think having 2 would make a lot of diffrence there.

WHAAAAAAAAAT? Can't be a 40 series, there's no such thing as a quiet 40 series.

Where did you get a QUIET series 40??????

I have series 40 Flowmaster on my 89 5.7, it is way too loud! I used to have the old 2 chamber on it and it sounded awsome. I have a staight pipe from manifolds to the series 40 (NO CAT CONVERTER) then it exits to dual tail pipes coming out of the corners of the bumper on an angle with 4" stainless tips. My customers say that it rattles their windows and sounds like a tugboat when I am at an idle in the street in front of their house writing their estimate with the air conditioning on. That is not good, I am looking to quiet it down.

If you still have your cat converter it prob is a lot quieter.

I have a 99 5.3 Z71 shortbed step side. I already have a cold air intake, and I'm getting a 40 series flowmaster single in/dual out rear exit. I'm going with 2 1/4 inch pipes out because I am trying to keep the spare tire (since I do quite a bit of off roading). The guy at the shop made a good point about cat converters that the newer vehicles are going to sound alot quieter with cat back systems because the newer cats act more as mufflers. I'll be sure to post what I think of my exhaust system when I get it back.
