Re: eclipse with high mileage?

it all depends on how well taken care of it was. If it was treated like shit. then it will be actin the same way. ive seen gst's with like 200,000. and they act like if they had 70,000. so it all depends. ( the owner of the gst is my friends uncle. only one owner)

Re: eclipse with high mileage?

I have beat on my car for almost 100k, and MOST of my problems were due to half-ass modding.

Now, when I say "beat on", I still change the plugs, wires, and fluids at regular intervals.

My non-turbo had 191,000 miles on it and still ran great! and now that i have the engine apart i can tell you there is no large amount of ware on any of the parts, It could of ran anthor 50,00+ miles with no problems at all.

But i wanted to replace all the seals before i put a turbo on, So im rebuilding it.

That is subjective, really. I imagine in a well maintained car that hasn't seen boost as much as we would give it...it could last past 150k.

I am only speculating on this.

Re: eclipse with high mileage?

Well yea I know it depends on the maintenance of the vehicule, but even a car thats maintained like a baby still wouldnt have their turbo last long past that mark

Re: eclipse with high mileage?

my friends uncle said he has no mods in it but he replaced everything when it hit 110,000. like belts and stuff even though he didnt need them. then he bought a brand new turbo same from mits. and put it in to replace the old one. but he comutes to work so most are highway miles. and his whole car is stock. not even an intake or nothing

Re: eclipse with high mileage?

so he has replaced the turbo with a factory one? With all those parts changed (usually the timing belt, fuel pump and plugs will cause minor greif) the car should be fine

Some help needed too..

I'm also curious about this myself. I've been looking at a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS which has 125,000 km on it. The dealer claims it runs like new in the ad, however I read a post the other day saying how the engine taps out around 130km. Any truth to this?

The car doesn't need much work at all, and it's selling for $4500. It'd be a nice project. Any advice would be great (Not that familiar with 420a engines.) Thanks.

That started as it left the factory.

Re: eclipse with high mileage?

man my 95 gs had 120039 when it stopped dead it its tracks. it ran great before that, but I just spent 3 monthes doin a full engine rebuild, but the guy i got the car from seemed like an idiot, so it really is all about how the car was cared for.

Re: Re: eclipse with high mileage?

I have a 93 Mits Eclipse GS 2.0 DOHC. I just rolled a little over 139,000 when a hose collapsed & I blew a hole in one of my pistons. We tore it apart, had the head redone, replaced the timing belt, and fixed everything else we could find along the way. Dave (Porno) redid the head and he said it was one of the best he had seen for a car with that many miles. (proof that regular maintenance will give you many miles)
