My car has had the problem of shutting off after a few minutes when it is really hot outside. I read about the problem of on guy having to get his crankshaft replaced. I was told that my crankshaft might need to be replaced so I am going to go ahead and get it fixed. I would like to change it myself. I am probably going to buy the part at an autostore today or tomorrow. Can anyone give me instructions on how to go about replacing it.....
Also, when I replace the crankshaft won't the "check service engine" light go off? |

You must be talking about the CPS/Crankshaft position sensor, you also need a special puller to remove the harmonic balancer.
CPS The SES might go out if thats the problem....but after replacing the CPS you should have a shop do whats called a case learn....If you have an autozone they will scan your car for free and tell you the code/codes set....and after that is fixed then it takes several driving cycles for the SES to go out, once its fixed.........~Larry~
