Rear Window problem

The rear window on my 94 will not go down with the rear key switch. I can only get it down with the switch on the console. This is a real pain in the a__. I do hear a clicking noise when I turn the key, but nothing happens. This may be related or not, but when using the console switch to put the window up, it goes real slow. Much slower than going down. Any ideas or places to start?

Re: Rear Window problem

I just recently had to replace the metal runners that attach to the bottom of the glass. (See #2 on the diagram) They had compltetely rusted off. This must have been happening over a long time and still working. How I do not know. I suspect the regulator arms (#8) must have been pushing on the glass and not the runners. If your runners have rotted away this MAY cause erratic operation of the window. Note: this does not apply to the key/console switch problems only the window roll up problems. if I was you I would pop off the cover to the tailgate (real easy) and take a look around.
