Angry 2000 Trooper Going South

I Too Have A Disaster Waiting To Happen. I Recently Returned From A 3 Hour Highway Trip To Find No Oil In My Oil Pan. Luckily My Check Oil Light Began To Flash As I Idled At A Traffic Light, Once Off The Highway.
I Have Taken Extrodinaryly Good Care Of This Engine, Changing The Oil Every 3500 Miles And Using Mobil 1 (15w-50) Oil. Current Mileage Is 60k.
The Vehicle Failed Emissions At 30k Miles For A Clogged Egr System That Cost Me $300 To Have Cleaned Out, Since Then I Have Been Back To The Dealer For A New Catalytic Converter On The Passenger Side, Even Though I Supplied The Dealership In Nj (rt 17) With Test Results Showing Both Cats Were Performing Below Temperatuire. My Next Dmv Inspection Is Comming Up And I Anticipate Another Trip To Nj For Another Warranty Repair Before The 80k Mark Comes And Goes And I Am Left Holding This Bag...
Buyers Beware....

Re: 2000 Trooper Going South

when was the last time you checked your oil? If you are the first owner have isuzu record your oil useage for 1000 miles and if it is more then 1qt/1k you'll get a new engine.

oil comsumption

I Normally R&r The Oil Every 3500-4k Miles. I Now Check The Oil Before And After Any Extended Highway Travel.
A New Engine? On A 2000 Model With 63k, Are You Sure?

The question is, where did your oil go? Any leaks? If not, I'd pull your spark plugs and see if there is a cylinder that's burning it (black color perhaps oily). Easier than that is to just wipe your finger on the inside of the tailpipe-- there should be minimal residue of a light brown/grey color. If its greasy or dark, you're probably burning it.

You said you check it frequently when going on long trips. Well, was it full of oil when you left?

Mobil 1 is good stuff but it doesn't work so good when its not there.

Good luck.

Re: 2000 Trooper Going South

If you are the orginal owner then yes you have a10yr/120k warranty. If you are the second owner your warranty is gone at 60k.
