Re: Flowmaster muflers

I have the 40 series, single inlet, dual outlet w/cats still on, and it sounds good. It is kind of loud inside the truck though, so if you don't want interior resonance I'd get the 50... I've also thought about getting the 70 myself b/c I want to tone mine down a little.

Re: Flowmaster muflers

I've tried the Flowmaster series mufflers before and they were just too loud inside the truck. I actually went to a Turbo muffler and it sounded good still without all the interior cabin noise.

I have two 40 series on my extended and there is a noticable noise in the cab but if you have the radio on you can barley tell...but even tho i have yet to tire of it.

Re: Flowmaster muflers

Sounds like you guys are happy with your flomasters, but after only about a year with my 40 series, I've decided that its an improvment over stock, but its way too mild. Its borderlining on quiet. I can stand behind the truck when its idling and almost not be able to hear it. Thats why Im getting two flotech glasspacks, lets see what that sounds like.

I would go with the 50. It is loud enough and you won't get pulled over for it.

I have series 40 Flowmaster on my 89 5.7, it is way too loud! I used to have the old 2 chamber on it and it sounded awsome. I have a staight pipe from manifolds to the series 40 (NO CAT CONVERTER) then it exits to dual tail pipes coming out of the corners of the bumper on an angle with 4" stainless tips. My customers say that it rattles their windows and sounds like a tugboat when I am at an idle in the street in front of their house writing their estimate with the air conditioning on. That is not good, I am looking to quiet it down.

If you still have your cat converter it prob is a lot quieter.
