i usually like to work on my own vehicle. looking at plug/rad hose locations, wondering how difficult to reach for me or should i just give it to the shop for the mechanic to work on(his headache). Any suggestions would be helpful. replaced my alternator myself was soo easy to reach.

Re: 98 blazer spark plug/rad hose replacement
The rad hoses are fine if you prepare for the coolant loss and the mess.
The plug replacement is an absolute pain in the butt. All plugs go in perfect other than the drivers side middle one which take a lot to get to. |

I can't get to that middle one on the drivers side. How the heck do you get to it to get the old plug out and the new one in? |

Re: 98 blazer spark plug/rad hose replacement
You will need lots of extensions and go right through the wheel well.
Might be smart to actually take off the tire. Makes it so much easier. |

Re: 98 blazer spark plug/rad hose replacement
There is a specialty tool available to take off those stubborn spring type clamps that GM puts on their radiator hoses. You ought to call up your local Snap-On dealer and ask him if he might know where to get one. It has a ratcheting handle and a three foot long extension that allows you to grab onto the clamp and remove it without having to resort to a set of vice grips. -Chris

With to universal joints and some decently long extensions, I was able to get that pesky plig out of there.
